Ranking System

Why the need for rankings based on measurable and verifiable data?

College football rankings based on measurable and verifiable data are needed in order to minimize/eliminate subjective bias and ensure fairness in determining which teams should be ranked as the best and be eligible for the playoffs.

The Superior Performance Ranking System (SPRS) uses two performance factors, which are score margin and current opponent ranking.  The current opponent ranking is not dependent on any subjective opinion.  It is determined by the SPRS accumulated points at any specific time of the football season.

Everyone can get the score data and perform the calculations specified on the Description page.  At this time SPRS gets its score data by permission from https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/years.  Every team can know what its accumulated points are each week and determine what they need to do in order to accumulate the points that they estimate will be needed to make the playoffs.
